ODK Alumni at Homecoming in 2019

Alumni Engagement

Since 1927, Sigma Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa has initiated more than 4,000 leaders from all walks of campus life. They have helped shape leadership on campus during their time at the University of Maryland, but it is the continued support and involvement of the alumni who have been key reasons for the Circle’s success. Alumni donations have created a large scholarship endowment in the University of Maryland Foundation, the interest from which funds three $1,000 scholarships for emerging leaders on campus. ODK Alumni also contributed over $100,000 for the construction and engraving of the ODK Fountain on McKeldin Mall.

Over a dozen alumni continue their active involvement with the Circle as Voting Alumni. Phil Aronson and Rick Jaklitsch, for example, have stayed involved since the 1970s and Logan Schutz, President of the Circle in 1932, remained committed and active in ODK until his passing in 2013. The ODK Sigma Circle Leader of the Year award is named in his honor.

Alumni also return every year for the Division of Student Affairs Homecoming Student Leadership Celebration and to visit the ODK Fountain on Maryland Day.
